Will cover philosophy, politics, law, artificial intelligence, good books, and Australian football. Organised into notes (short-form, time-bound ephemera), essays (longer substantive content), and projects (larger-scale undertakings to be updated and revised).
Licensing
I'm a fan of freely licensing works so others can do their own cool things with them without worrying about copyright infringement. To that end, original content I have authored on this site is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). That is just about as free as I can make it without actually committing it into the public domain. All the licence requires is that you credit me – "Undo Redo Schwa" or "Chas Underwood" are both fine – link the licence, and note if you've made modifications.
However, do note that not all content that will appear on this site is original content I have authored. Third-party images, quotations, datasets, embedded material and AI-generated content may fall under other terms. I'll do my best to note these terms when they arise, but complying with any differing terms is ultimately your responsibility.
Technologies
I used generative artificial intelligence to help construct the website. We used Astro. I began with a vague design idea. I had GPT 5.5 interview me to flesh out a specific creative vision. We constructed and passed on a prompt to Claude Fable 5, which did the bulk of the initial setup work. Claude Opus 5 helped with some smaller tasks. Artwork created with GPT Image 2.
I'll probably have a longer post reflecting on the site's principles regarding AI use. Key things to know for now: the actual writing that appears on the website will always be my work, never AI-generated, and I will never pass off AI-generated things as my own.
